Looming starkly dark
on lonely heath
hear death’s howling bark
with growling teeth

Warm colors faded to bleached
erstwhile joy jaded to sorrow
Voices chalk on blackboard screeched
as we cower from the morrow

Outlook cruel, bleak
no place for the weak
