On tracks through the San Joaquin Valley

May 27th, 2015 | Categories: environment, flora & fauna, political, traffic

Seen from afar trains stir through the Valley
tween horizon to horizon fields.
A fleeting, insignificant alley
sliver in abundant agro yields.

In the city of Fresno spoils
well to do agrarians.
In fields where the mercury boils
toil poor proletarians.

Through train windows’ scenery
on trees, seem in millions,
irrigated greenery:
almonds in the billions.

These last years they’ve been irrigating
by race to the bottom drilling.
Momentarily mitigating
as aquifers not refilling.
