eric sundin

When twenty with insolent surety
he did pace on impunity’s floor
When forty untouched by maturity
while at eighty he awes: Teach me more!

Though his recall dimming
rigidity gels primmer
slender skills keep slimming
Earthly prospects grow grimmer

His self-portrait still rankles
clownish in aging’s rust
Slogging up to his ankles
in Life’s circus sawdust

While he squanders social security
in self-obfuscating obscurity
