Seattle 2012:

Wars, global warming or plight of the poor?
No, paper bags soon 5 cents at the store!

A situation turned dire
that aroused citizens’ ire

And no bags plastic hurt them to the core!

) Anger (non-rhyming)

Lances let fly with hollow cheer
fall piercingly through trembling hearts

Swords drawn with feverish fervor
clash sharply with clanking clamor

Havoc visits in abject fear
with furor toward what’s within

Nothing allayed, just inflamed, blamed
Nothing averted or absolved

Rushing restlessly in darkness
reliving detours in to pain

We the unreflective rabble
avenging a phantom affront

That P is perpetually the victim
at any time, any situation
declares the non-negotiable dictum
inviolate line of demarcation:

First the P impatiently inspects
and condescendingly dissects
Then emphatically disaffects
and contemptuously reject

Exclaims if offered Perfection:
“A set up, attempted sting!”
triggering instant rejection:
“Don’t offer the perfect thing!”

The P never needs to be coerced
A sneeze? “Call the doctor or nurse!”
Salivating, she expects the worst
So why not just line up the hearse?

But if lined up, of course: “Wrong hearse,
wrong coffin, and who stole my purse?”

In the very here now, beyond & yonder
with calm, gentle, unwavering gaze,
Sam’s peering out in unreserved wonder
framed by jacket’s hood: his open face.

Stuffing sweets into his beach ball tummy
clammy little hands digging deeply from a bowl.
Sam’s munching away on what’s so yummy:
A winsome container for the eternal soul.

My o my, such an unfair fate!
Why’s all this done just to me?
All crumbling at a nose dive rate
how can this allowed to be?

I want to pile up a heap
am eager to consume
and to do so on the cheap.
So rightfully I fume:

Mother Earth, she’s a disaster.
Just thinking of herself, blast her!

Raises morning’s curtain
upon sunrise infused sky
Less bemused than certain
humans get scurrying, why?

How to discern when mired in a muddle
as distant planets coldly align?
Dreams fill oceans, insight the mere puddle:
don’t expect our days warmly benign

Lowers evening’s curtain on sunset infused sky
gone forever another scurrying day, why?

“Just ride it out”, says my cheery wife,
“watch a video, write a verse
enjoy your late life without the strife!”
Until carted off in the hearse

But spared suffering, struggle & strife
how can humans live well in life?
If trivial coasting til last breath
we’re not alive before our death?

And how to pretend Life is smooth sailing
while throwing up bent over the railing?

Here with her cute Grandma looks
she’s a Jewish princess
when in her kitchen she cooks
up a pile of blintzes

Food to break the Yom Kippur fast
though we’ve been eating all day
but in these bright times who’s aghast?
We’re still ‘breaking the fast’, ok?

How we atone with others & G-d:
we’re all chomping, no one winces
Faith yes, but we must nourish the bod
Don’t be bashful: Pass the blintzes!

Alex, known as Omnipotent Rex:
conceived to superhuman specs.
The rest of us but hapless wrecks.

Today a mere eight
the world cannot wait

for him to resoundingly abate
our humanity’s miserable state.

Bosomy Summer falls into Autumn’s lean arms
in seasonal change without doubt or struggle
mutually elated with each others charms
the seasons change glowing in loving snuggle

That’s how it flows in Nature Harmonious
while Human change often acrimonious
