in today’s society:
Reverberation coarse
in purloined propriety
Wear our feelings on the sleeve
we do not know subtle
not known to hold back on peeve
brusque in our rebuttal
But even when helpful & kind to confront
must still know not to take personal affront

Vållade sin stackars mor en tung sorg
efter att ha växt upp i Göteborg
när skrålade ‘Hallelujla!’
å for dumt nog till USA
Rastlös genom egen pinsam försorg

Fastlåst nu i rutin strulig
där går trögt var fundering
i vinglig framkomst trehjulig
tills när som helst punktering
Fast hjärtat har försvarlöst veknat
tills det nästan upphör att slå
har ej sommarminnen förbleknat
all dess distinkthet fått bestå
Skimrar nu minnen okuvliga
från svunna sommardar ljuvliga

Åter en dyngsur dag i dystopi
för de många som lider slitsamt
mens en utmärkt dag i utopi
för oss livet behandlar skonsamt
Om vi har det väl förspänt
mänskligt att söka förklara
med att ’verkligen förtjänt’
Svårt nog förstås att försvara
… så vi får oss noggrant akta
att inte hämmas av fakta!

fast annars en seg en
som orsakat månget misshag
med sina pinsamma misstag
Tragglig å knagglig hans livsstig
med påhitt beklämmande
I meningsutbyte munvig
när ‘orätt’ fördömande
Liksom klentrogen av samhällsstegen
saknar han nu tro på Himlastegen

I’d say that if Mencken is right then U.S. democracy has by now been perfected, viz.:
Screen-augmented monomania
White House megalomania
Plain corporate kleptomania
Pervasive mythomania
Narrative declarative
the abnormal dressed up formal
Its manners imperative
keeps propounding the ‘New Normal’
swallowed in mindless frivolity
amidst decaying life quality

Some folks riding the bus seem huddled, perhaps wretched and/or
homeless.
Little ability
on the soiled seats of Life’s bus
to show civility.
It has rather become thus:
They yell, cuss
fret and fuss!
Watch demeanor & faces
of some treated poorly by Life
clearly not going places.
Are their elbows too soft for strife?
As they slide into their seat
just hoping beyond the next stop
while slumping down in defeat
that this day not another flop.
Onboard no egalitarian hug fest
through window a glimpse of the Accomplished Rest:
who glide by in splendid isolation
in their tinted-windowed vehicle
on this and on most other occasion
in pursuits monomaniacal
On ‘(Huddled) Mass(es) Transit’
those ‘tempest-tossed’ do not ride free
not how we had fancied it
but sadly how it came to be …

-monomaniacal = obsessed with a single subject or idea
Blev gamla tiders folkvett
så väl använt att det tog slut?
Med nya käcka synsätt
vet vi kanske ej längre hut?
Passar ej att bry sej om
(i uppumpad självsyn)
stort sett annat än dotcom
i trist brist på hänsyn?
Kanske är mitt eget synsätt bristfälligt
mitt gamla skick å tal grinigt å gnälligt?
