in form of crumbs of mealy blandness
who’re allowing us get misled
by The Upper Crust’s shiny grandness?

Who would judge a loaf by the crust
a person by its gleaming facial
place in the Upper Crust our trust
with its hustle harsh & hearts glacial?

Still some Crumbs aspire to Upper Crust
with turpitude or fortitude
heedlessly they elbow there or bust
willing to pawn their rectitude!

Really now! What ought be entrusted
to those hustling to remain encrusted

to strangle Earth in mass choking
No sweet sounding song & dance
when all species begun croaking!

Who thought the Earth safeguarded
against plenty piled up plastic
when sloppily discarded
clogging Earth with massive mastic?

Crisis deniers’ speeches bombastic
while their relation to truth elastic

for a charmer
a knight in shining
gleaming armor

Then caught her on-white-horse-knight
after courtship whirlwind!
A leftist who wasn’t too bright
now she suffers chagrined

By now peeled off her lacquer
an aging woman less busty
He turned out a bald slacker
armor cracked & hinges rusty

Next she hopes to find someone who won’t annoy her
perhaps a well-to-do Republican lawyer?

of such deep-seated hate
spews out of the gates

Lashing out unseemly
with rancor, anger
Haranguing extremely
with cocky clangor

This happens perhaps because as we know best
so what’s the point listening to you the rest?

But who needs knowing
can’t we just keep going
conning, elbowing
pushing posthaste crowing?!

Yet ain’t there the unsettling sense it’s bugling taps
that nations & environment are near collapse?
